pelageya как-то задала вопрос, про юридическую ответственность родителей и ребенка за пропуски в школе. Я тогда подумала - не может быть...но ошиблась. Вот такое письмо пришло нам из районного департамента образования. Ребенок учится в подготовительном классе.




Dear, Mr. & Ms.:

Attendance records from each school are reported to the County Public Schools' Department of Student Services. Recently, the attendance records for the first semester of 2009-2010 were reviewed. These records indicate that your child had an excessive number of absences and was unlawfully absent from school 20 percent or more of school days during the first semester of the current school year.

As you know, regular school attendance is essential to assure that your child makes academic progress and is successful in school. It is also the law. Your child must attend school on a regular basis or, under the law; you and your child may be referred to the Department of Juvenile Services. The State of Maryland Article 7-301 imposes a duty on any person who has legal custody or care of a child to see that the child regularly attends school. Violation of this law is a misdemeanor and subject to a fine not to exceed $50 per day of unlawful absence or imprisonment not to exceed 10 days, or both; and a second or subsequent conviction is subject to a fine not to exceed $100 per day of unlawful absence or imprisonment not to exceed 30 days, or both. We urge to work closely with school staff to improve your child attendance.

Upon receipt of this letter, please contact your child's school to discuss attendance issues and develop a plan to ensure your child attends school each day. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious matter.


если кратко, то ваш ребенок пропустил более 20% от общего числа учебных дней за первый семестр - это незаконно. По статье вы и ваш ребенок можете попасть в тюрьму или отделаетесь штрафами.

Когда стали читать связку "ребенок - 10 дней тюрьмы", возник естестевенный вопрос "А как же он в школу будет ходить?"

Но и это еще не все. Пропущено было 17 дней из 108 учебных дней. Здесь надо очень постараться получить те "больше 20%"...

Как анекдоте "и эти люди будут мне говорить, что в носу ковыряться нельзя?"

мы уже и ответ им написали, правда, в сдержанных тонах, а так хотелось высказаться!
